Gorillaz debut at No.1 on Irish Albums Chart with The Mountain
Tickets for their upcoming Irish shows are available below.
Gorillaz have debuted at No.1 on the Irish Albums chart with the release of their new album The Mountain.
The multi-lingual album was first released last week, coming as their first project since Cracker Island in 2023. The Mountain currently sits at the top spot on the chart, just above Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving and Amble's Reverie.
In a recent review of The Mountain, Hot Press stated: "As Gen X’s leading musical talents progress into late middle age, many are now noticeably addressing themes of mortality."
"Following on from Dave Grohl’s grief-stricken reflections on the Foo Fighters’ 2023 album But Here We Are, Gorillaz’ The Mountain features a number of emotionally raw moments from frontman Damon Albarn, whose father passed away in 2022."
Albarn's other recent project includes a credit on the Help(2) War Child benefit album, released today. On the 2nd track, 'Flags', the English singer-songwriter features alongside Fontaines D.C.'s Grian Chatten and poet Kae Tempest.
Gorillaz will reach Irish fans later this month, playing a show at the SSE Arena in Belfast on March 31, and shows at Dublin's 3Arena on April 1 and 2. They will also headline Electric Picnic this upcoming August.
Tickets for their upcoming Irish shows are available here.
