Fontaines D.C. on covering Sinéad O'Connor for War Child album: "It's a real privilege"
The first single off the album, 'Opening Night', performed by the Arctic Monkeys, was released last week.
Fontaines D.C. have commented on being featured in the upcoming collaborative album, HELP(2), out March 6.
The band will feature on the album with their cover of Sinéad O'Connor's 'Black Boys On Mopeds', with lead singer Grian Chatten also teaming up with Blur's Damon Albarn and poet Kae Tempest for the track 'Flags'.
The independent record label released the initial Help album in 1995 to raise money for the War Child UK charity. War Child UK provides medical aid, education and mental health support to children living in war-stricken areas across the globe, such as Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan.
The original collaborative album, led by Brian Eno, which featured the likes of Sinead O'Connor, Oasis, Paul McCartney, Radiohead and The Stone Roses, raised over £1.2 million [€1.4 million], providing vital support to children caught in the Bosnian conflict.
"It’s a real privilege to have been asked by James Ford to contribute to this record," said Fontaines D.C. on their Instagram.
"Our time in the studio for this project was a unique and life-affirming experience.
"In a moment of serendipity, Carlos was unable to join us due to the birth of his own child.
"Now more than ever it is vital that we all support the work of War Child."
