Blur episode of Hot Press Classics out now - feat. Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon
It really, really could happen for Paul Nolan & Kilian Murphy, as they do a deep dive on Blur’s 1995 Britpop classic, The Great Escape. Plus an interview with Graham Coxon & Dave Rowntree.
To celebrate the podcast's first anniversary, Hot Press Classics is back with a new instalment, focusing on Blur's 1995 classic The Great Escape.
Accompanied by Killian Murphy, Paul Nolan celebrates the record's 30th anniversary exploring Blur's generational impact on the music scene, their incredible success as an indie pop band, and the members' legendary chemistry.
Additionally, the duo discuss Blur's consistent lineup throughout their career, the member's iconic musicianship, and their astronomic rise to success following the 1995 Brit Awards.
Elsewhere, Nolan and Murphy speak about Blur's place in the Britpop scene and in the Britpop war, their relationship with the music press at the time, the central importance of reinvention within their artistry and the legendary status of The Great Escape.
To round up the episode, Nolan pulls out an extract from an interview with Blur's Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon, where they discuss their 2023 comeback album The Ballad of Darren, the band's 90's heyday and The Great Escape.
Find out about this and more in the new episode, produced by Paul Nolan and edited by Flo Laurent.
