Taylor Swift named Global Artist of the Year for the fourth year in a row
Taylor Swift topped the chart, above artists including Ed Sheeran, SZA, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has revealed that Taylor Swift was the best-selling artist worldwide, naming her Global Artist of the Year.
It is the sixth time Swift has received the award, and her fourth consecutive year placing at the top of IFPI's global artist chart.
"Swift has now won the award as many times as all other artists combined over the past 10 years, which reflects both her creative consistency and the long-term global strategies supporting her releases," said IFPI.
IFPI calculates who should receive the award according to their worldwide sales across streaming, download and physical music formats during the calendar year, taking into account their entire body of work.
At the end of last year, Swift released the concert film, Taylor Swift/The Eras Tour/The Final Show. Swift also released the six-part docuseries The End of an Era, which details her Eras Tour, the most commercially successful tour ever, grossing $2,077,618,725 (€1.96 billion).
Swift, Drake, Seventeen, The Weeknd, and Eminem have all appeared on the Global Artist Chart for the past five years.
K-pop group Stray Kids ranked second in this year's edition, placing within the top five for the third year in a row.
Bad Bunny, Spotify's Global Top Artist, placed fifth in IFPI's global artist chart, appearing on the chart for the sixth consecutive year.
Tyler, The Creator and Japanese group Mrs. GREEN APPLE appeared on the chart for the first time, placing at no.12 and no.13, respectively.
Lady Gaga returned for the first time since 2020, placing at no.10.
IFPI will release the results of their Global Single Chart and Global Album Chart later this week.
