American Football announce new album
Most known for their 1999 single 'Never Meant', the midwest-emo band will release their fourth studio album on May 1.
Midwest-emo band American Football have announced their upcoming fourth album LP4 will release on May 1.
The 'Never Meant' band, fronted by Mike Kinsella, last released an LP in 2019. LP3 featured collaborations with Paramore's Hayley Williams, Slowdive's Rachel Goswell and Land of Talk's Elizabeth Powell.
American Football's second album, LP2, arrived in 2016 - 17 years after their initial debut in 1999. The band had originally split in 2000 before reforming in 2014.
They teased the upcoming album on social media over the past week, before making the official announcement last night. They kick off their headline US tour in May, with select UK/EU shows to commence in June.
Amid the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement occupation throughout cities in the United States, American Football have announced they will be partnering with the Plus1 organisation, with €1 from every tour ticket sold going towards defending immigrant rights groups in the US.
"We’re grateful to these organizations and their essential work at this time more than ever," said the band. "Especially as we think about how best to respond to the recent deadly violence and intimidation by ICE in our own country."
Other artists who have spoken out against the occupation include Bad Bunny, Lorde and Billie Eilish.
