Special Rory Gallagher episode of Hot Press Classics out now - feat. Daniel Gallagher and Muireann Bradley
To mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of an Irish musical icon, Paul Nolan is joined by Daniel Gallagher and Donegal singer and guitarist, Muireann Bradley, to discuss Rory Gallagher's classic self-titled debut from 1971.
To honour the 30th anniversary of the death of Rory Gallagher, Hot Press Classics returns with a very special episode focused on the Irish guitar legend's 1971 self-titled debut solo album.
To mark the occasion, Paul Nolan invites Rory's nephew Daniel Gallagher to discuss the guitarist legendary legacy and the wide array of musicians he has inspired, Gallagher's authenticity as a musician and as a character, as well as Daniel's remastering of Rory's landmark debut first album.
Elsewhere in the episode, Nolan and Daniel discuss Rory's lo-fi self-production process, his hands-on approach to mixing and recording and the genius of his guitar playing.
Finally, they bring up Rory's use of music as an emotional outlet, the blues musicians than inspired him, and his many unreleased collaborations with legendary rock bands and musicians.
To round out the episode, Nolan offers a very special interview with fellow Donegal native and singer-songwriter Muireann Bradley, to talk about her recent appearance at the Rory Gallagher festival in Ballyshannon, Rory's unique style of bluesman-ship and the inspiration she draws from the late musician.
