Manic Street Preachers episode of Hot Press Classics out now
Paul Nolan, Kilian Murphy and Donny Keane know they believe in nothing, but it is their nothing, as they revisit Manic Street Preachers' barbed 1994 masterpiece, The Holy Bible.
Hot Press Classics is back for a new episode, focusing on Manic Street Preachers' 1994 masterpiece The Holy Bible. It coincides with the reissue of the record this year.
In the new instalment, Paul Nolan is joined by Kilian Murphy and Donny Keane to discuss the tragic disappearance of Richey Edwards, his creative genius, and the lack of conversation around mental health in the 90s.
They also discuss the era in which the Manics were born in, the influence of the minors' strike in Wales and their subsequent fascination for failing political movements.
The trio also explore the commonly dark themes of The Holy Bible, including nihilism, annihilation and provocation, and the unrelenting darkness of their sound.
Nolan, Murphy and Keane also chat about their previous output with Generation Terrorists and Gold Against The Soul, the band finding their footing on their third record, and the wide range of influences they have cited over the years.
They also explore the album track by track, touching on their brilliant live shows, the darkness of their sound and the difference between their output and the popular music of the time.
Find out about this and more on the new episode of Hot Press Classics, out now.
This episode was produced by Paul Nolan and edited by Flo Laurent.
