KNEECAP have released their new single 'Liar's Tale', along with an accompanying video.
'Liar's Tale' comes as the first single off their upcoming 3rd album Fenian, set to release April 24. The Belfast-trio premiered the song on Jack Saunders' BBC Radio 1 New Music Show last night.
The new video was directed by Thomas James, a UKMVA-winning director, who has previously worked with the likes of Sam Fender and Nothing But Thieves.
"A whirlwind of Irish mythology, of satire, of anger," said James. "A vehicle for what the boys have been through, but likewise, for what everyone is witnessing. It’s not often you get to work with a band who have a genuine fire, and a selfless interest in trying to help people. And that for all of us involved, was important."
Fenian is set to feature collaborations with Lankum's Radie Peat on 'Cocaine Hill', spoken word artist Kae Tempest on album closer 'Irish Goodbye', and West Bank-based rapper Fawzi on 'Palestine'. The 14-track album was produced by Fontaines D.C. and Black Midi collaborator Dan Carey.
“They tried to stop us by branding Kneecap ‘terrorists,’ with cancellations, with statements from the Prime Minister himself," said KNEECAP. "We had all the motivation we needed…this isn’t a swift reaction, but a considered response to those that tried to silence us. And failed.”
'Liar's Tale' comes only two weeks since group member Mo Chara's most recent hearing at the Royal Court of Justice in London, following an appeal on his previously thrown-out terror charges.
