Last Apollo announces debut album I'll Walk Towards You

Last Apollo has announced her debut album, I'll Walk Towards You, to be released on September 4, following the release of her single 'Home' last Friday.

The Irish indie pop artist, whose real name is Lucy Rice, recorded the album with live-engineer and producer Sergio Maschetzko. He has previously worked with Black Country New Road, Black Midi and The Last Dinner Party.

Rice and her band were based in London but came to Dublin to record their latest single, 'Home.'

"Sergio somehow trusted us enough to drive back to Dublin with all of his microphones," Rice said.

"Apart from different scenes and different bands, the only actual important thing to me in terms of location has been where my band is. To spend time thinking together, playing together and listening together in our own little microcosm. Right now, we find ourselves back in Ireland. This album has captured the sound of us in my living room - the place where it all started and I can’t wait to see which way this microcosm blows next."

Last Apollo's emotive debut single 'Moonboots' was released during Covid-19 in October 2021. In July 2022, she dropped her debut EP Ordinary Matter, which she performed in Dublin's Workman's Club. She has been gaining traction since and opened for Imelda May in Vicar Street in February this year.

"This album overflows with love," Rice said of her upcoming LP. "New listeners might hear a lot of heartbreak and turmoil but for me, this album is a reminder of my amazing friends and the love they have never ceased to show me."
