Paul Nolan is worth a million in prizes, as he breaks down Iggy Pop’s landmark 1977 albums, The Idiot and Lust For Life. Plus an interview with Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan.
Hot Press Classics is back for its newest edition, focusing on Iggy Pop’s landmark 1977 albums, The Idiot and Lust For Life.
Throughout the podcast, Nolan explores Iggy's early career with The Stooges, his relationship with David Bowie and his jump into solo ventures.
Elsewhere, he discusses Iggy's legendarily over-the-top stage persona, his and Bowie's Berlin era, which saw Bowie release his groundbreaking albums Low, Heroes and Lodger, while Iggy put together The Idiot, as well as his inimitable craftsmanship in songwriting.
Finally, Nolan goes through Iggy's status within the punk explosion in the UK, as well as later career highlights such as 2016's Post Pop Depression, produced by Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age, and Iggy's legendary influence on the music world.
To round up the podcast, Nolan brings back an interview extract with Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan where they discuss his collaboration with Iggy on his solo album. McKagan's early days as a punk rocker in Seattle, and the influence Iggy had on that scene, the legendary musician's performance with Queens Of The Stone Age and much more.
