Galway band Puck release debut EP Hiraeth
Galway psychedelic-rock band Puck have released their debut EP Hiraeth.
The EP title Hiraeth, is a Welsh word meaning "a spiritual longing' which remains on theme with their often melancholic melodies. The six-track release follows the group's recent signing with Galway-based label Blowtorch Records, who additionally represent bands such as Ash Red, Pebbledash and iNNUENDO.
"The record as a whole is a commentary on the neglect of those in power and their solitary drive to profit off the masses," says vocalist Rua Stassi. The band experiments with these themes in creating a sound influenced by hardcore punk and garage genres.
The band have also announced a series of ongoing Irish tour dates, which include shows at the Deer's Head in Belfast on November 21, the Record Room in Limerick on November 27 (in aid of the UNICEF Gaza appeal), Dali in Cork on December 4 and the Róisín Dubh in Galway on December 6. Select shows will include support from Broncos, Franklin, Running Out The Clock, Therapy Horse, Unique Freaks and Infidel.
Puck's drummer Nora Staunton is also the lead vocalist of punk band Shark School, known for orchestrating Galway's Femme Fest and releasing singles such as 'Choose Life' - recently featured on Netflix's House Of Guinness soundtrack.
Tickets for Puck's upcoming tour are on sale now and are available for purchase here.
