The 2 Johnnies announce major Belfast show
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 6.
The 2 Johnnies have announced their biggest show in the North of Ireland to date, set to take place in Falls Park, Belfast, on Friday, July 31.
The show is part of Ireland's biggest Community Arts Festival, Féile an Phobail.
The Tipperary duo will be performing with The Junior B All Stars, while The Shamrocks, The Highschool Prophets, Erasured, Mark McCabe, Roll With It, DJ Chris Armstrong, and Pete Snodden have been announced as special guests.
Elsewhere, The 2 Johnnies are performing in Dublin, in St Anne's Park for their Pints in a Field show, on June 6, and at the 3Arena in aid of Children's Health Foundation on April 6.
The Irish musical comedy duo started publishing Irish small-town life sketches and self-released music videos on Facebook and YouTube. Since then, the two have released ten no.1 Irish singles.
"The most surreal moment for me was one of the first times we did Electric Picnic," said Johnny B to Hot Press. "They've a little shuttle bus to bring you over, and the bus was full of people. I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is all our gang. People have work today, because of something we're doing. We started filming sketches on a phone, dressed as farmers, and now we have a band, and a tour manager, and a photographer...’
"That was the moment for me - realising that it was real in other people's lives too."
Away from music, the duo have produced The 2 Johnies Podcast, which was last year's most-streamed podcast in Ireland on Spotify, and three TV shows on RTÉ.
Tickets will be available on March 6 via Ticketmaster.ie.
