Toto announce Irish shows for 50th anniversary
The rock band formed in 1977 in Hollywood, California.
Toto have announced a 3Arena show on June 16 and a Live at the Marquee appearance in Cork on June 17. The pop-rock band are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their founding next year.
The shows will feature special guest Todd Rundgren, the founder of rock band Utopia.
Best known for their hits 'Africa', 'Rosanna' and 'Hold the Line', Toto have been on their Dogz of Oz world tour since 2022.
They formed in January 1977 in North Hollywood, California, gaining global recognition with their 1982 album Toto IV, which won six Grammys. Toto were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009.
Their lineup has changed several times, with guitarist and vocalist Steve Lukather the only founding member still consistently touring with Toto. Joseph Williams, son of the composer John Williams, joined as the lead vocalist in the mid-80s.
Other members on the current tour are multi-instrumentalist Warren Ham; bassist John Pierce, formerly of Huey Lewis and the News; keyboardists and singers Dennis Atlas and Rai Thistlethwayte; and drummer Keith Carlock of Steely Dan.
Tickets are on sale from this Friday at 9 a.m. here.
