Wire frontman back in action
Former Wire man Colin Newman is back with a new outfit that, charmer he is, he’s named Githead.
His partners in musical crime are Scanner’s Robin Rimbaud and Minimal Compact members Malka Spigel and Max Franken.
To coincide with the release of their Profile album, the quartet play The Sugar Club, Dublin (September 25) and An Cruiscin Lan, Cork (26).
For the benefit of the young whipper-snappers among you, Wire helped kickstart the ’76 punk uprising and then developed into an altogether more cerebral beast.
Their kindred spirits include Pere Ubu who – coincidence or what? – play their own Dublin headliner on September 21 in The Village.
