Bonobo announces new album
The album is announced today alongside new single 'Me and You'.
Bonobo, aka Simon Green, has announced his new album, Distance In Static, out September 11 via Ninja Tune.
The record is announced today alongside new single, 'Me and You', which has featured on his recent DJ sets, including two road-block pop-ups in London and Paris.
"I want to reinforce this idea that you can be more than one thing," said the English musician, producer and DJ on the album.
"I think the front end of what I've done has now become something that's referential to younger people. I liked the idea of listening for a distant signal - trying to find something in the noise."
Across the album, Green collaborates with artists including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis and Aanya Martin.
Green debuted in 1999 on the Tru Thoughts compilation When Shapes Join Together. Following the release of the EP Scuba, on the Brighton-based label Fly Casual Recordings, and the single 'Terrapin', Bonobo was offered label deals with XL Recordings and Mute Records, but he chose to remain with Tru Thoughts.
His first album, Animal Magic, was published on the same label in 2000.
Bonobo's seventh studio album, Fragments, was released on January 14, 2022. Since then, he has been nominated for the Brit Award for British Dance Act in 2023, and alongside Kamasi Washington and Floating Points, he composed music for the 2025 Japanese anime television series Lazarus, directed by Shinichirō Watanabe.
