First posthumous Dolly Parton song released
A festival in Parton's honour will take place next year.
The first Dolly Parton song since her recent death, 'Bound To Ride', has been released. Parton recorded her vocals for the traditional bluegrass song, popularised by the Stanley Brothers, in 2022.
An icon of country music, Parton passed away at age 80 on August 25. The singer-songwriter's hits include 'Jolene', 'Coat of Many Colors', and '9 to 5'.
Apart from her music, Parton founded a children's literacy project, Imagination Library. 200,000 children in Ireland are among those who have been sent free books under the initiative. Her empire also includes a theme park dedicated to her in Tennessee: Dollywood.
A festival in her memory will take place in Nashville and London next year. DollyFest was initially scheduled for January of this year, in celebration of her 80th birthday, but was cancelled as Parton's health was in decline.
'Bound To Ride' will be on the tribute album, Where The Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years Of The Stanley Brothers. The album comes out on October 16.
