Soft Cell announce final album Danceteria
The record’s title track is out now.
Soft Cell have announced their sixth and final album Danceteria, due out on September 25 via Republic of Music.
The record was described as a “fitting farewell” to the late Dave Ball, who passed away in October 2025 at the age of 66, only two days after completing the record.
Today, Soft Cell also released the album’ lead single and title track, described as "a joyous, celebratory burst of disco pop".
Check out ‘Danceteria’ below:
Commemorating almost five decades of the synth-pop duo making music together, Danceteria will act as a love letter to early 1980s New York City, the birthplace of Soft Cell’s first three albums.
Marc Almond explained that the band “always had a strong connection with New York, and my Soft Cell lyrics often look at America through British eyes.
"New York in the 1980s was a particularly creative place for me,” he added. “It was a pivotal era in terms of changes in my personal life and changes in the city itself."
Talking about the final record, he also said that "there can be no more recordings of Soft Cell without Dave, it would not be possible. The sad reality is that Dave Ball was half of Soft Cell, and live work aside, I can't write Soft Cell songs without him."
Danceteria is available for pre-order now here.
