Where’s The Sun
Aslan: “Where’s The Sun” (BMG)
Frances Black: “All The Lies That You Told Me” (Dara)
Aslan: “Where’s The Sun” (BMG)
I’d hate to be the cause of any sibling rivalry but when it comes to this ‘bleeding heart’ lark, the Black sister who's always going to steal the laurels is Mary. Frances certainly puts her heart and soul into what’s a typically soporific Christie Hennessey ballad but like Tranmere Rovers, I can never see her gaining promotion to the Premier Division.
Aslan, meanwhile, continue to get great mileage out of re-writing their back catalogue. ‘Where’s The Sun’ is equal parts ‘This Is’ and ‘Pretty Thing’ with a smidgen of ‘Crazy World’ thrown in for good measure and while there’s no faulting the basic blueprint, they’re going to have to be a tad more inventive if they want to broaden their fan base.
