Pixies drop four unearthed tracks, written between Bossanova and Trompe le Monde
Pixies will join Queens of the Stone Age as special guests for their 2027 North American tour dates.
Pixies have dropped four unearthed tracks, recorded during production of their albums Bossanova and Trompe le Monde.
The tracks were created in the period between 1987 and 1991, and are now available on streaming platforms. They were first included as two bonus 7" singles in limited-edition remastered editions of Bossanova and Trompe le Monde.
One song is Steve Albini's version of 'Dig For Fire', which was initially recorded in late 1987 while the band were creating their debut album Surfer Rosa. The track was changed around and was included on their third album, Bossanova, in 1990.
The release also includes 'Punk Loop' which was recorded in 1991 during the Trompe le Monde sessions. Originally labelled as 'Punk Loop MSTR', it remained unreleased until this single drop.
'Brackish Boy', originally written with Pixies, but re-recorded by Black Francis and used in his 1993 debut solo album has been released as a new single. The early version has been mastered from the original album recording, and has been released without any post-production.
The final new track is 'Go Man Go', which was co-written by Black Francis and Kim Deal during sessions for Pixie's Bossanova and The Breeders' Last Splash. The song resurfaced in 2023 when The Breeders used it in their 30th anniversary edition of Last Splash.
Pixies have been celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, the band embarked on a UK and European tour during summer 2026, including a date at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on June 2.
In 2027, the band will join Queens of the Stone Age as special guests for their upcoming North American tour.
They released their latest album, The Night The Zombies Came, in 2024. The band currently comprises Black Francis (vocalist and guitarist), Joey Santiago (guitarist), David Lovering (drums), and Emma Richardson (bass guitarist).
