Dublin folk singer Macdara Yeates announces new album Mudlark Ballads

Macdara Yeates has just released a new single 'Alexander' from his upcoming album Mudlark Ballads, out September 4.

The album will showcase forgotten street songs found in the National Library of Ireland archives, including the first commercial recordings of 'De May Bush' and 'De Kilmainham Minit.'

Yeates released his debut album Traditional Singing from Dublin in 2024, which included a cappella tracks.

This album earned him a spot on MOJO magazine's Top 10 Folk Albums of the Year and two nominations at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.

In 2012, Yeates co-founded a monthly singing session titled The Night Larry Got Stretched, which acted as a place for young traditional singers to gather and share songs. Previous participants of these sessions include Lisa O'Neill, Ye Vagabonds, Lankum and more.

Yeates performed alongside trad ensemble Skipper's Alley from 2013 to 2017.

Following the release of Mudlark Ballads, Yeates will tour across Ireland and the UK, with a US and Europe tour set to be announced in 2027.
