Whatever gets you tutu: Paddy Casey-inspired ballet
The Chrysalis Dance company have created a ballet inspired and scored by the music of Paddy Casey
Paddy Casey in a tutu? Not quite, but the recent Hot Press cover star is the musical inspiration behind a modern ballet, Strings, which Chrysalis Dance are bringing to the Black Box, Galway (April 16); Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone (17); and the Draiocht Theatre, Blanchardstown (19).
"Paddy Casey has created an eclectic soundtrack incorporating elements of folk, rhythm & blues, rock, funk and techno," enthuses a Chrysalis spokesperson. "Strings is inspired by the lyrics which range from anxieties about modern day society to poignant love songs. The variation of musical styles and themes are reflected in the movement making each piece a choreographic reality."
