Trump administration uses Ariana Grande clip in pro-ICE video
Grande joins a growing number of musicians who have taken a stand against or sought action against the ICE for using their music without permission.
Ariana Grande's 2024 song ‘Bye’ was used in a video documenting an ICE raid.
The caption of the video reads “Bye-bye, President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”
After Grande commented on the post, “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense," the music got removed from the video.
Olivia Rodrigo, Nancy Sinatra, Sabrina Carpenter, Ben Stiller, Radiohead, Kesha, and more have called out the Trump Administration and ICE for using their music or clips in promoting deportation.
"This video is evil and disgusting, do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” wrote Carpenter on a video that used her Saturday Night Live commercial to promote another ICE raid.
Olivia Rodrigo called out the use of her song 'All-American Bitch' in a clip encouraging undocumented immigrants to self-deport, posted by United States Homeland Security.
“Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda," said Rodrigo. Her comment was later removed after the post went viral, and the White House also eventually deleted her song from the clip.
Grande’s new album Petal will be released on July 31. She is also currently on her Eternal Sunshine tour. This will be her first concert tour since 2019, with dates planned for Los Angeles, New York, and ten nights at London’s O2 Arena in August and September.
