Ariana Grande releases new single 'hate that i made you love me'
It’s the first single from her upcoming album petal
Ariana Grande has released the first single, ‘hate that i made you love me’, from her eighth studio album, petal, which is set for release on July 31.
The track was written and produced by Grande alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and ILYA. The music video is set to premiere on June 1.
The album arrives ahead of her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which will include 41 dates. The tour kicks off in June in North America before heading to Europe, including a ten-night run at London’s O2 Arena.
petal marks Grande’s first album since 2024’s Eternal Sunshine, which received three Grammy nominations. Its single ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ reached charts worldwide, including number three in Ireland.
Alongside her music career, Grande has also continued acting. She starred as Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo in both film adaptations of the musical Wicked. Both films received Oscar nominations. Most recently, she filmed Focker-in-Law, the latest instalment in the Meet the Parents series, which is set for release in November.
Reviewing Eternal Sunshine, Hot Press wrote: “To say that this album is profound would be to confuse vulnerability and emotional depth as the same thing. If you listen to Eternal Sunshine for what it is, and not what it purports to be, there's a lot to be gained from the artist's latest LP, a delectable piece of pop R&B to melt into.”
