Ariana Grande responds to Team Trump for using ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ in TikTok
"Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false," she wrote in a comment.
Ariana Grande has responded after one of her songs was used in a video posted by the Team Trump account relating to Donald Trump.
‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)’ from her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine was used over a clip of Trump walking up to a podium with text that read:
“Me and my truth we sit in silence… Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports.”
“This shouldn’t be controversial! #trump #arianagrande #maga," Team Trump, a TikTok account created during the 2024 US presidential campaign, captioned the post.
Grande commented on the post, writing: “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”
Back in June, she criticised the White House after her song ‘Bye’ was used in a video showing ICE agents detaining people.
“Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” Grande wrote in a comment. The music was later removed.
Grande supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign and, in 2022, urged her fans to “reject him with everything you have,” referring to Trump.
Other artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Radiohead, Kesha and more, have called out the Trump Administration and ICE for using their music or clips.
“This video is evil and disgusting, do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” wrote Carpenter on a video that used her Saturday Night Live commercial to promote an ICE raid.
Currently, Grande is playing a 10-date residency at London's O2 Arena as part of her Eternal Sunshine tour. Earlier this month, she announced she would be taking a break from public life after wrapping up the tour on September 1.
