WATCH: Spice Girls' 'Wannabe' video gets a feminist makeover
20 years after its initial release, the Spice Girls' now iconic song, 'Wannabe,' has been used to promote women's rights in a video released by Project Everyone.
For its 20 year anniversary, the song 'Wannabe' by the Spice Girls has been honoured with a feminist remake of the original music video, courtesy of Project Everyone.
A part of the UN's Global Goals campaign, Project Everyone aims to fix climate change and put an end to poverty and inequality all around the world. Even though Project Everyone promotes several noteworthy causes, the release of the video #WhatIReallyReallyWant is focused mainly on women's rights - and they picked the perfect song for it!
'Sporty Spice,' or Melanie Chisholm, tweeted her support of the feminist remake, saying she was "flattered and honoured that our crazy song is being used so beautifully."
The video features artists Jacqueline Fernandez, Seyi Shay, Gigi Lamayne, Moneoa Moshesh and the British band M.O., along with American dancers Taylor Hatala and Larsen Thompson.
