Villagers nominated for Mercury Music Prize 2013
They become the first Irish act to be nominated twice for the prestigious award.
This year's Mercury Music Prize nominees have just been announced and Villagers have made it 'two for two'.
Conor O'Brien and co's second album {Awayland} will be up against the likes of David Bowie's comeback The Next Day and Arctic Monkey's recently released AM.
It means the band become the first Irish act to be nominated twice for the highly-coveted gong – their 2010 debut Becoming A Jackal also made that year's shortlist.
Conor O'Brien has commented: "We are surprised and honoured to be nominated for the Mercury Prize with {Awayland}; we put a lot of love into this album and the attention that this will afford it is currently warming the cockles no end."
The Mercury Music Prize will take place on Wednesday October 30 at the Roundhouse in London.

Foals – Holy Fire
Jake Bugg – Jake Bugg
