UFC announces broadcast deal, will be available on eir Sport
The service formerly known as Setanta will continue to bring the sport to Irish fans – which is bad news for Virgin Media customers
Many Irish UFC fans will be cursing their luck today as the organisation announced it will be available in Ireland exclusively through eir Sport.
The broadcaster, formerly known as Setanta Sport, is the only way to receive BT Sport in Ireland – and, with despite major interest from Sky Sports, the world-leading MMA brand has chosen to stay put.
This, however, is massively disappointing news for thousands of Irish fans, as Virgin Media recently notified customers that it would no longer offer the eir Sport package to its customers. A disagreement on pricing was cited as the reason behind the agreement's end; we'll see if the prospect of angry fans of Conor McGregor (pictured) will force someone's hand.
