TV3's Red Rock Snatched Up By BBC
Ever since its debut in January 2015, TV3's original soap Red Rock has gone from strength to strength and has now sealed a huge deal with the BBC.
All 80 episodes have been bought by BBC Worldwide in a deal that's understood to be in the region of €500,000.
This is another step in a long line of success the show has acquired. Lead up to the show's debut was skeptical as it was coming off the back of RTÉ's Love/Hate but it has since gone on to prove itself amongst audiences and critics alike.
Red Rock has won three IFTA's, Best Soap, Best Director for Lisa Mulcahy and the People's Choice Award. It was subsequently bought by Amazon Prime for the nice sum of €1million.
The premise of the show is more relatable and engaging now than ever before considering the societal issues ongoing in our city streets. Set in a fictional coastal town, Red Rock follows the lives and dramas of a community which is trapped between two rival families all from the perspective of the Gardaí who are trying to police them.
Red Rock airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8.30pm on TV3 and for those who haven't been following it from the onset, you can catch up on TV3's 3player.
