The Streets + Kasabian confirmed for Oxegen
Hot on the heels of last night's BRIT Awards, The Streets have confirmed their appearance at this year's Oxegen festival
Having secured the title of Best Male Solo at last night's BRIT Awards, Mike Skinner has signed up The Streets for this year's Oxegen festival.
Also announced today: Leicester rockers Kasabian will make their maiden voyage to Ireland to perform at the festival, which takes place at Punchestown Racecourse on July 9 and 10.
The Streets, who are specifically confirmed for the Sunday line-up, are firm festival favourites here in Ireland. Indeed, their appearance at Witnness 2002 proved a memorable experience for all involved.
Reminiscing about his memoirs of Punchestown, Skinner recently told Hot Press: "That was a great gig. What was really beautiful was that the sun was going down behind the audience, and when we did 'It's Too Late' the sun had just set," said Skinner. "For us on stage, that was just beautiful."
Sunsets aside, Skinner confessed to some of the other temptations of the festival circuit.
"Festivals are definitely a different vibe," he said. "You're a bit more 'out on a limb' because you don't really have a base. You're kinda homeless. And it's unhealthy in another way because with a festival there's so many other bands. There's so much of a buzz that you could get swept along in the party... But it is great to meet other bands."
Tickets for Oxegen go on sale Friday, February 18, priced at €64.50 (one day), €120 (two day) and €145 (two day including camping).
