The Academic announce Irish tour
You're guaranteed to hear massive airplay hit 'Different'
Hot Press Hot For 2015 picks The Academic hit the road for shows in the Roisin Dubh, Galway (April 18); Cyprus Avenue, Cork (23); The Stables, Mullingar (25) and The Workman's Club, Dublin (May 22).
The Westmeath combo's debut single, 'Different', has been causing a major stir, both at home and in the UK where BBC Radio One's Irish contingent, Annie Mac and Phil Taggart, have given it spins.
“It might seem that we've just come out of the woodwork as a band but we have been playing together since we were 13 or 14 years old," ventures lead singer Craig Fitzgerald. "We have played in every corner of the country to anybody who would listen to us or anybody who was forced to listen to us over the last few years. What’s changed ? You go through the bad to get to the good and as a band we had to play over 200 shit gigs before we started to find our sound”.
