Imelda May has announced she will be adding 10 extra dates to her Raised on Songs and Stories tour due to high demand.
Now starting at the end of January, May will play extra shows in Carrick-on-Shannon, Galway, Ennis, Kilkenny, Thurles, Waterford, and Athlone.
“I wanted to go back to something more informal,” May explained in a recent interview with Hot Press.
“The UK tour was one of the best I’ve done in a long time. I was able to go in and out of poetry and song and stories about the songs.
“It's all about community and connection really for me. We need more of that, and I think it's the job of the artists to do that it always has been."
The singer's new 6-part series, Amhráin na nGael, Imelda May: The Songs of the Irish, recently wrapped up on RTÉ 1 and is now available to stream on the RTÉ player.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale Wednesday, December 17, at 10AM on Ticketmaster.ie.
