Gaillimh Ah-Boo! 2026 celebrations to continue across the Halloween weekend

Following the success of its inaugural edition in 2025, Galway City Council has brought Gaillimh Ah-Boo! back for another year – with expanded celebrations across the city.

Reclaiming the ancient origins of Samhain through a action-packed, community-centred programme of events, Gaillimh Ah-Boo! kicked off earlier this month, and will continue to run across the Halloween weekend.

Last weekend saw Galway city play host to the renowned Macnas Parade – which celebrated its 40th anniversary with a new procession, Fiáin.

But visitors can still catch Gaillimh Ah-Boo!'s flagship event, Time, from Luxmuralis, the internationally acclaimed pioneers of immersive light and sound.

Running until October 31 at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, and kicking off each day at 6.30pm, Time transforms the interior of one of Ireland's most historic churches through projection art, original music and immersive storytelling.

Tickets are available here.

A Gathering of Souls

Other Gaillimh Ah-Boo! highlights include A Gathering of Souls, an event led by the Mexican community in Galway.

Exploring the shared connections between Samhain, All Souls' Day and Día de los Muertos, A Gathering of Souls – taking place on the streets of Galway on Sunday evening, November 1 – draws on the rich traditions of both Ireland and Mexico, through music, storytelling, and more.
