Declared by the late, great John Peel as his favourite song, the song has been covered countless times since its release in 1978 by everyone from Ash to Busted, Therapy? to The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.
Now, Ian Dempsey is calling for bands and artists, signed and unsigned, to record their own version of the anthem to seek out the best of the bunch.
Five stand-out entries will be played on the breakfast show in the last week of May, and on June 1, the winner of the listeners' vote will walk away with e7,500.
