Subtonics singer goes solo
It's first stop LA when "the Mighty" Stefan Murphy begins his solo career in earnest
Widely-touted Dublin outfit Subtonics are down a man following singer Stefan Murphy's decision to concentrate on his own modestly monikered Mighty Stef project.
"This was a difficult decision seeing as I'd been in the band for some five years which is longer than any job I was is or any relationship I was in," he tells hotpress.com. "I've been writing and demoing my own material with a bit of help from my friends and have also put together a solid six-piece band to back it up. It got to the stage where I was simply enjoying doing my own thing more than I was enjoying the Subtonics."
Stressing that the split is amicable and the rest of the band plan on continuing without him, Murphy says he's planning on spending July in Los Angeles where a series of acoustic shows await.
