Straight outta Motor City...
Living legend Wayne Kramer regroups with former MC5ers in London - and announces solo date in The Village
The legendary Wayne Kramer returns to Dublin on June 6 for a show in The Village.
The former MC5 guitarist is coming armed with a new album, Adult World, which demonstrates that his playing is as incendiary as ever.
That was also evident last month when Kramer and the other surviving MC5-ers, Dennis Thompson and Michael Davis, reconvened at the 100 Club in London. Joining them on stage were Lemmy, The Damned's Dave Vanian and Nicke Royale from The Hellacopters.
"It was a trip learning those songs today in 2003," he reflects. "I've played a lot of music since I last played this material 30 years ago and I found that I had a fresh take on it. It was like learning someone else's music but it seemed kinda familiar.
"On a few of the songs I was struck by what a creative bunch of knuckleheads we were back when we were kids. Like digging through old photographs and seeing that you actually looked pretty good when you were young."
