Steve Hackett to rework Genesis in Dublin
He plays Vicar Street next summer.
Prog fans are in for a treat on May 18, 2013 when Steve Hackett brings his Genesis Revisited II album and tour to Vicar St., Dublin. Tickets priced €44.05 go on sale on Thursday October 25.
Describing it as “a project of Wagnerian proportions”, Hackett has reworked a slew of Genesis classics with Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson, Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt, Marillion’s Steve Rothery, It Bites’ Francis Dunnery, Nik Kershaw, John Wetton and Phil’s son Simon Collins among the featured vocalists.
“This time around, I’ve tried to satisfy what everyone wants, including myself,” he says in relation to the set-list. “Initially, I was thinking of just going for the best songs not featured on the first album. But then people thought I should do those tracks where the guitar was emphasised. So, I’ve done both. I've also included four songs with Genesis threads, most of which were written during the period and had a Genesis feel, such as the co-written 'Shadow Of The Hierophant’.”
