Sinéad O’Connor to collaborate with Peter Gabriel
After her critically acclaimed reggae album Throw Down Your Arms, the first lady of Irish music is back with a collaboration and her own newie.
In addition to releasing her own Theology double-album in October, Sinéad O’Connor is one of the guests on Peter Gabriel’s new multi-artist project, Big Blue Ball.
A marathon 15 years in the making, it also features Natacha Atlas, Papa Wemba, World Party’s Karl Wallinger and assorted African and Asian players.
“The idea was to put rock musicians together with musicians from all over the world and see what happened,” Gabriel explains. “We ran the studio like a dating service with a 24-hour café. Eventually, Stephen Hague was recruited to pull the album into shape.”
The collection is due through Gabriel’s own Real World label in the autumn.
