Cillian Murphy namechecks Cardinals, Lisa O'Neill, Lankum and Fontaines D.C. on Track Star
"It's lovely when you can listen to music that's made at home, and it's world-class," said Cillian Murphy in the video.
Cillian Murphy has namechecked his favourite Irish acts, including Cardinals, Lisa O'Neill, Lankum, and Fontaines D.C. on the online music show Track Star.
He proceeded to call the Cork band Cardinals "very good", O'Neill a "great Irish singer", and Fontaines D.C. a "leader" of great Irish music.
Lankum, who feature on the soundtrack for the new Peaky Blinders film, also got a mention. In the video, Murphy listened to the band's 2025 single 'Ghost Town'.
"It's just a good time to be Irish in terms of music," said Murphy.
"There's this kind of explosion in Ireland, at the moment, of great great music." "It's lovely when you can listen to music that's made at home, and it's world-class," he added.
Track Star is a popular music-focused online series and YouTube channel created by Public Opinion. Featuring street interviews and music trivia hosted by Jack Coyne in New York City, the show features guests, ranging from pedestrians to celebrities, who share their favourite music.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, starring Murphy, debuted on Netflix with 25.3 million views three days after its premiere on March 20. The film is a continuation of of the Peaky Blinders series.
The film's soundtrack, featuring Lankum, Fontaines D.C.'s Grian Chatten, as well as Amyl & the Sniffers' Amy Taylor has topped the UK and Irish Shazam charts for music.
