‘Selassie Is The Chapel’: A lost Bob Marley song has been released
Bob Marley's previously unreleased 1968 song 'Selassie Is The Chapel' has been released by JAD Records – listen to the song below.
A lost song by Bob Marley has been released. The track is titled ‘Selassie Is The Chapel’ and contains a message of hope and peace.
The song was first recorded in 1968, but it was never officially published. However, Bob Marley's label, JAD Records, is now releasing the song.
It is available for streaming on all platforms, and a limited edition 7" vinyl is also available with only 2000 copies.
This recording is part of a larger collection of Marley's sessions that were produced exclusively for the label in the late 60s and early 70s.
The Ethiopian ruler visited Jamaica in 1966 and was welcomed by Mortimer Planno. Planno then wrote the lyrics to ‘Selassie Is The Chapel’.
Marley converted to Rastafarianism in the 60s and became one of the belief’s best-known advocates. He died in May 1981 at the age of 36.
