Live album of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1976 London residency to be released
The concert residency was captured 50 years ago in London, England.
A new live album highlighting Bob Marley & The Wailers' 1976 London residency is getting its first-ever official release.
50 years on from their residency, the anniversary is being honoured with the release of Roots, Rock, Reggae: Live at the Hammersmith Odeon. The live recording was filmed during the four-night residency at the Hammersmith Odeon, which took place from June 15-18, on the second leg of their Rastaman Vibration tour.
Set for release on August 14 via Tuff Gong/Island/UMe, the live album features 18 tracks, all newly mixed from the original multi-tracks.
Performances from the concert were previously only available as part of an incomplete bootleg. It features live takes of classics such as 'Get Up, Stand Up', 'I Shot the Sheriff', 'No Woman No Cry', along with 'Bend Down Low'.
The Hammersmith Odeon residency marked a pivotal moment in Bob Marley & The Wailers' rise to international acclaim. While the venue represented a significant leap in scale for the band at the time, in the weeks that followed, Rastaman Vibration became his first US Top 10 album.
Ahead of the album's release, the live version of Roots, Rock, Reggae has been made available on streaming services.
