It’s funny how the small things make all the difference. Had Úna Keane’s primary instrument of choice been the acoustic guitar, then the chances are that we might have passed over her debut release, saturated as we are by such things. Luckily for all concerned, Keane is a classically trained pianist and it’s this extra dimension that lifts the four songs included here. The obvious comparisons (Bush, Amos) are certainly hard to avoid but Keane has more than her share of her own personality and a distinctive voice to boot. Not ‘just’ another singer songwriter then, and thank heavens for that.
