Ronan Hardiman scores major new show
The Marti Pellow-starring Sacred Flame premieres after Christmas in the London O2.
Ronan Hardiman looks like he has another theatrical hit on his hands with the new show he’s written the music for, Sacred Flame, receiving its world premiere on December 28 in the London O2.
The leading man is Wet Wet Wet’s Marti Pellow, now one of theatreland’s biggest box-office draws.
Also involved in the “dance-driven” production are renowned choreographer and controversially axed Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips; Frank Musker, the Ivor Novello-winning singer-songwriter who’s written hits for the likes of Queen, Il Divo, Russell Watson and Hayley Westerna; and Mark Fisher, creator of Pink Floyd’s The Wall and a host of Rolling Stones and U2 concerts.
According to the press blurb, “The production is set in modern day South America and is laden with infectious Latin rhythms including the salsa, mambo and tango. The story focuses on the coming of age tale of Anton, a teenage boy journeying to Peru to understand why he came to be given away as a baby by his real mother. He quickly becomes involved in a far greater adventure to discover the legendary riches hidden away centuries before by his true ancestors.”
