Remembering Luke
A new 'Best of Luke Kelly' CD, containing previously unreleased material, is due for release October 1 as a homage to the ex- Dubliner also starts in the Gaiety, twenty years after his death.
The legendary luke Kelly is being honoured with a brand new 'Best of' double CD, along with a week long tribute to the traditioanl singer, banjo player and guitarist in the Gaiety Theatre. The CD will include six unreleased tracks altogether, and songs like the previously unavailable Hand Me Down My Bible.
In total it will be compiled of eighteen studio recordings and thirteen live recordings, with unreleased versions of The Rising Of The Moon, Kelly The Boy From Kilane and The Town I Loved So Well.
As further homage to the musician, who died twenty years ago this year, the Gaiety is showing Remember Luke from October 24- 30. This show will feature his old band, The Dubliners, and Jim McCann along with special guests Ronnie Drew (October 24 & 25), George Murphy (October 26 & 27) and Shane MacGowan (October 28 & 29).
