Red letter days
Simply Red are back with a new album and a Point date - and now, it seems, they are also an 'independent act'. "It's a serious back to basics vibe," explains a source
Simply Red are set to play a headline show at Dublin's Point Theatre in May. The precise date and ticket prices are as yet unconfirmed but, needless to say, will appear here first.
Meanwhile, Mick Hucknall has completed a new album, Home, which will be released on March 24 on his own simplyred.com label.
According to a well-placed source, "Simply Red are now basically an independent act – Mick and the lads are fucked off with major record companies. It's a serious back to basics vibe."
As for the music, "Home revisits the band's original R'n'B roots. Highlights include the single 'Sunrise', the brass-fuelled 'Fake' and the wistful title track. It also features covers of 'Money In My Pocket' and the Stewart Levine-produced 'You Make Me Feel Brand New'."
So now you know!
