Pour Your Love
The Retros: “Pour Your Love” (APL)
The Retros: “Pour Your Love” (APL); Frankie Goes To Hollywood: “Welcome To The Pleasuredome” (ZTT)
Two songs that give lustful expression to matters sexual but via vastly different methods. ‘Pour Your Love’ must include about ten million fruit=sex metaphors, “the fruit is ripe it’s time to eat” and “I’ve been waiting for a long time to peel your skin, come on let me in”, being my personal favourites. Without intending to pun injudiciously I’d have to say it sounds delicious. Okay, so it is pure seventies but it’s good. On the other hand we have Frankie, resurrected to enhance ZTT’s bank balance. Let’s face it, the eighties were pretty shit, and having grown up through them, I can happily say thanks but no thanks. ‘Welcome to the Pleasuredome’ was where Frankie started to go wrong but it’ll still sell by the van-load.
