Posthumous award for Chris Roche
Chris Roche is to be posthumously awarded the Public Relations Institute's President's Medal for "his outstanding contribution to the understanding and practice of real public relations in Ireland."
Roche, who died in December 2002 at the age of 48, joins John Hume, Gay Byrne and Dr Ed Walsh as only one of four people who's received the honour in the Institute's 50 year history.
"Although a legendary figure in the entertainment sector of the PR industry, Chris was also very accomplished in the corporate public relations area," says Michael Patten, President of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland. "He was widely respected by his colleagues in the industry and with clients like Aiken Promotions, Christy Moore, Michael Flatley and a host of other international names in the entertainment world, he was at the leading edge of his profession."
The President's Medal will be presented to Chris' wife, Geraldine Roche, at the Institute's Annual Christmas Lunch which takes place in Dublin's Berkeley Court Hotel on Thursday December 18 at 12.30pm.
