The first ever Planetlove Winter Session has been confirmed for the Punchestown Conference Centre in Co Kildare for February 16, hotpress.com can reveal.
The new annual event will be co-promoted by the Planetlove team from Belfast and RTÉ Radio 2FM Sessions Tour’s Sean Brennan and follows their success with the first ever Planetlove Summer Session festival at Fairyhouse Racecourse in September.
Dutch legend Ferry Corsten and Italian special guest Mauro Picotto top the international DJ line-up at Winter Session, while the capacity at the venue – which is being used as a concert venue for the first time – is reportedly 6,000 people.
One of the biggest DJs of 2007, Dutch tech-trance producer Sander van Doorn is also on the bill, alongside trance stars Marcus Schulz and Judge Jules and hard dance hero Alex Kidd.
Three Irish DJs complete the line-up: RTÉ 2FM’s dance guru Mr Spring, Spin FM Dublin’s John Gibbons and Hot Press scribe Mark Kavanagh.
The target market is the audience who filled the Point theatre for a succession of sold out Godskitchen and Cream events, and Winter Session will follow their lead and kick off at 5pm.
“It means anyone travelling from Cork or Donegal can really make the most of their day out,” a Session spokesman explained.
The sound and visual spectacular lined up will have a theme of The Magic of Love and will feature “wizards, illusionists and explosive laser lighting.”
Tickets for Planetlove Winter Session go on sale at Ticketmaster outlets nationwide on Saturday November 24 at 9am and cost just €59.95.
