Olaf Tyaransen wins Journalist of the Year at Irish Magazine Awards
At a glittering ceremony in Smock Alley Theatre, Hot Press' Olaf Tyaransen took the top gong of Journalist of the Year.
With the Award having been bestowing upon Hot Press Deputy Editor Stuart Clark a year earlier, we were firm outsiders at this year's IMAs. But the judges rightly recognised that Olaf had had an incredible year. He took the award for his revelatory piece on Victim of the State, Ian Bailey, as well as his look back over U2's touring history..
Olaf saw off competition from the likes of Sophie White (Image), Maria Moynihan (Irish Country Magazine), Louise Finn (Irish Tatler Man), Lorcan Roche (Law Society Gazette), Donal O’Donoghue (RTE Guide) and Gemma Tipton (Cara Magazine) to win the Journalist of the Year Award for the second time.
