Official after-parties ahoy: Jurassic 5 and The Roots
The Roots and Jurassic 5 will be hosting after-parties in Dublin and Belfast respectively
Whether in Dublin or Belfast or some place in between, hip hop-minded heads have no excuse to be staying in next week.
Jurassic 5 have announced an official after-party to follow their appearance at the ViTal festival on Monday, August 30. DJ Nu-Mark will be joined by Rakaa (Dilated Peoples) on the decks, with the entire J5 crew on hand for all manner of party tricks.
The venue – specifically requested by the band following their Belfast debut there in 1999 – is the Belfast Empire Music Hall. Tickets will be £9 in advance or £10 on the door. Doors open at 8.30pm, with local hip hop DJ Marty Pelan kicking off proceedings.
In a near-criminal clash of programming, The Roots will be presiding in Dublin on the same night, August 30. Tickets are still available for the live show in the Olympia - or, alternatively, being given away in our hotpress.com competition (closing Friday!).
The Roots party will continue at the Temple Bar Music Centre from 11pm onwards, with ?uestlove swapping drumsticks for the 1's and 2's. Funk, soul, reggae and hip hop will the staples of the evening.
Tickets for the after-party, presented by Remedy, are on sale now from Ticketmaster priced at €10. Tickets can also be purchased on the door and if you've come from the gig (and have a ticket stub to prove it), you can get in for a mere €5.
Finally, limited tickets are still available for the latest Welsh hip hop sensation, Goldie Lookin' Chain. They play The Village, Dublin, on August 31.
