New John Lennon docu-drama set for BBC premiere
John Lennon's Last Day is from the pen of Stephen Kennedy
Assuming we all make it through tomorrow evening's football intact, there's some top quality listening to be done on BBC2.
John Lennon's Last Day, a docu-drama following the events of the infamous day when the Beatle was murdered in New York, will receive its premiere on the station at 10pm. It comes from the pen of Stephen Kennedy (pictured above, alongside a statue of the main man), who's well known in these parts as the director of the annual Dublin Beatles Festival.
It stars native Scouser Ian Hart playing the role of Lennon - much to the delight of Stephen, who says, "I'm...ecstatic to have Ian Hart performing in it. In my opinion, no actor has ever captured John Lennon’s character better than Ian did in the film Backbeat. He has extraordinary talent.”
